1. practice students’ writing ability.
2. grasp the words and expressions of expressing one’s hobby.

1. catch the chance of communication in english.
2. cultivate the interest and courage of learning english.

teaching preparation: flashcards
teaching aids: audiotape; flashcards
type of lesson: new lesson
teaching procedure:
step1. sing the song “a moment just for me”.
step2. come to “let’s do it”.
have you ever made scientific models? what are they?
let the students give a talk in groups. then one group choose a student to describe the hobbies in his group.
step3. listen to the tape and retell the story.
step4. read the text with the following questions:
1. what are the students doing?
2. does brian show their hobby?
3. does anyone else in brian’s class take stamp collections as their hobbies?
4. what’s danny’s hobby?
5. where does danny show his hobby?
step5. let the students have a further discussion about the text. check the answers. when the students are discussing, the teacher tours in the class and helps them if it is necessary.
step6. have a role-play. during the procession, the students pay attention to their pronunciations and intonations. correct them when they meet trouble.
step7. listen to the tape again. play the tape for several times. ask the students to read after it until they can read it correctly and fluently.
step8. 1. finish off the activity book.
2. now retell the story again.

summary:
   to describe one thing correctly and clearly is the most important thing that you must master in this lesson. the students must pay attention to the sequence when they write. they can use the words and expressions about the sequence: first; then; later; finally.
